Biography

"We work with people, not cases, advocating for you and your family's best interests."

Experience & Reputation Counts

If you find yourself facing a divorce or other family law issue, Todd Babich has your back. For more than three decades, he has helped clients through some of the toughest, most emotional experiences in their lives with his expertise in trial advocacy, mediation, child custody issues, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, property division, spousal support, domestic violence, same sex marriages and partnerships, and modifications. When it comes to creating the best results in or out of the courtroom, experience and reputation count.

As a leading matrimonial law attorney, Todd is also a former longtime shareholder at Babich Sarcone, P.C., one of Iowa's largest family law firms. He has litigated successful results for his clients by listening to their concerns and translating their goals into realistic objectives. Communication and committing time to his clients are the keys to understanding and supporting his client's long-term goals.

"I take the time that is necessary to discuss each client's hopes, fears, and concerns. And then, I tailor my services to match their goals."

When tough negotiations are required, Todd has earned the reputation and decades-long experience within the legal profession to gain the very best outcomes for his clients. In recognition of his professionalism and ethical standards, Todd was recently named President of the C. Edwin Moore American Inn of Court, where he has attained the rank of Master. He is also listed as a "Top 100 Lawyers" in the Midwest in Matrimonial and Family Law by the National Advocates.

Todd is known for his personal attention to all of his clients. He understands the complex emotions anyone faces during a divorce or separation. Todd knows that no one family is the same. Each family has its unique challenges, especially when children or high-assets are involved. However, what does remain the same is the process required in the State of Iowa when seeking a divorce.

"What makes my representation more effective than most is that I am an expert in Iowa's family laws, practices, and procedures, and that means my clients get the best outcomes possible. Family law is what I do."

Todd's legal practice is focused exclusively in the areas of family, divorce, and juvenile law. He knows the process and the people you may need - from specialized high-asset accountants, business consultants, law enforcement officials, Department of Human Resource professionals to family therapists, psychologists, educational personnel, and medical staff - referring when needed, successfully mediating on behalf of his clients when appropriate, or going to trial when warranted.

Effective Mediation & Zealous Litigation

Todd's results-oriented courtroom skills and effective mediation experience set him apart as a recognized comprehensive family lawyer, mediating settlements when it is in the best interests of his clients. As a certified mediator through Polk County Courts, Todd has practiced mediation for families as a cost-effective and satisfying option for over a decade.

Mediation offers another pathway for clients to develop creative solutions to difficult and complex problems while minimizing the emotional stress and strain of a divorce.

"When mediation isn't a good option for my clients, aggressive litigation is always on the table."

When it comes to litigation, Todd knows how to be a tough advocate. His long list of satisfied clients continue referring their friends and family members to Todd because of his successful results.

Making a Difference Above & Beyond

From the Great Lakes of Michigan to The Garden State of New Jersey, Todd grew up in two states before returning to the Midwest, where he first attended the University of Michigan before transferring to Drake University, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in 1985.

It was during his years at Drake University that Todd began a five-year stint working in the psychiatric unit at Lutheran Hospital. He also began mentoring teenagers caught-up in the juvenile court system in the VIP - Volunteers in Probation - Program, renamed Mentor Iowa.

Todd was elected President of the VIP Program and in 1986 received the Governor's Volunteer Award in recognition for his numerous contributions to Iowa's children-in-need. In 1988, Todd received his J.D. from Drake Law School. He was admitted to the State of Iowa Bar and the U.S. District Court Southern District of Iowa in 1989. He soon began practicing law alongside his brother Les at one of the state's largest family law practice firms.

Todd is the proud father of a son, daughter, and grandson. On weekends he enjoys spending time with his children and grandson.
